LOTRO Log In Difficulties

Postby vicobi » Mon Jan 11, 2016 8:41 pm

About 20 minutes ago the LOTRO facebook page posted a link to Frelorn's forum comment regarding the current log in problems. My favorite part of his comment was this:

"However a hotfix to the game will be required. In order for us to do this we will have to build an update, deploy it to our test server, and test it extensively before we can release the fix to the live servers."

Deploy to [a] test server?? Test it "extensively"?? Really?? Pinky swear??

I'm able to log in and get to the character selection screen but once I select my toon and try to load into the game, I just get stuck at the loading screen. Seems to be a common problem from what the LOTRO forum posts are saying. I might have to give up soon and just go read a book.

Furthermore, for some reason my main toon has no armour in the character selection screen while my other toons do.

So we got that update / hotfix Frelorn mentioned yesterday. Yes, it's rhetorical but I gotta put it out there:

Can I get a copy of the dictionary that was used to define "extensively"?

12 hours ago this was posted on the LOTRO facebook page:
We will be performing maintenance on Gwaihir at 12pm Eastern in order to test a potential fix to the recent server issues.
Later they posted:
The LOTRO Game Servers will be brought down on Tuesday, January 12th from 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM Eastern (-5 GMT) for datacenter Maintenance.
Just four hours ago:
All worlds are once again available. Thanks for your patience.
So, Noon to 2:30 = 'extensively tested" and 2:30pm - 8:00pm = 2:30pm - 6:00pm in Turbine World.

And if you check the forums it looks like there are still some problems (i.e., "Hotfix the Hotfix Please."). Just navigate the 'new posts' list carefully. Of all the 'new posts' on the first page, only 3 of the 25 were actual posts; the other 22 posts were spam for international black magic specialists and astrologers. All I wanted to do was see if anyone else was having problems.

The spam posting thing was out of hand months ago but with their current problems, it only seems to be getting worse. Don't worry, I didn't actually LOOK at the forum posts, a title of "SpEaKinG TRee--91-9660561317 Love Problem Specialist Astrologer In Chile" or "__KALA JADU__ 91-9414601882 [<<<Love Marriage>>>] Black Magic Specialist baba in " was enough warning.

I was going to post a pic of a clogged toilet and name it "My Day @ Turbine: SNAFU" but decided against it. Not because I decided it was tasteless - far from it. I just couldn't decide on the best clogged toilet pic.

I haven't been able to login since Tuesday. And even then it was a chore to get logged in. Since then, the client launches OK, but get stuck on the 'loading...." screen.

According to the twitter feed (http://twitter.com/lotro) Gwaihir and Landroval were both taken down for emergency maintenance today. I'm Hoping Crick is next.

I think Turbine needs a hotfix to the hotfix to the hotfix. Or maybe a size 12 steel toed boot strategically placed somewhere on the incompetent testing team's anatomy.

Well its Saturday January 16th and the servers are down once again  Cant even get in line to connect.. As this is the weekend I am not sure if turdbine is even aware of what is going on.. Seriously getting tired of the new and improved data center... Many folks on the forums are having the same problem..

Hello kinnies!
haven't been able to log in all week and I was really hoping the bugs would be worked out for the weekend. My wishful thinking I guess. sigh... getting annoying to say the least. Oh well, perhaps when they get it all worked out we will have much better gameplay and here's hoping for zero lag. hahahaha

I feel your pain. After struggling to get connected last Friday (after a server update to *fix* things), only to be booted from the server doing a mundane daily quest, I'm not even attempting to connect until Friday, Jan 22.

My hope is that either Turbine finally resolves the issue or enough people permanently quit the game so overloading servers are no longer a possibility :(
